The screens and dev blogs they released were representative of the actual game we get to play now. But - and this is a big but - the folks at Frontier have been very honest with where the game is at currently (and in the past), what they are releasing in the Alpha and why, what they want to test and what kind of feedback they want. While Planet Coaster does look much better than RCTW right now, at least graphically, in terms of features it offers much, much less. This is not my own preconceptions about what I expected the "next-gen" RollerCoaster game to be like, but rather by the expectations I had based on the promises made by the various developers over the past year or so - Atari on one side, and Frontier on the other. My review may have been positive, but it is - and I fully acknowledge this - skewed by expectations.
This is a part of my review with some added words, and may be relevant here too to explain why I think many people have a negative review and outlook of RCTW and positive of PC - it's based on expecations and disappointments (or lack thereof): Yeah but being blind fanboys of the game already makes literally no sense I think this tells you all you need to know about why the reviews are skewed. If you look virtually every single bad review mentions planet coaster.
I think the bad reviews really stem from the beta which no one enjoyed and the fact that frontier made RCT 3. Originally posted by TeknoTel:I own RCTW, Planet Coaster and Parkitect. That said I had no real problem with what is there. RCTW has some features there, more so then planet coaster, but is also missing a great deal odf content. Dont get me wrong, what is there looks great its just there is no economy or park management whatso ever. Planet coaster has literally nothing there which is why the overwhelmingly positive reviews and almost blind fanboyism are amazing to me.
However I ended up going back to RCT 3 afterwards as it still needs some work balancing stuff and I couldnt work out how to zone employees. I played for a couple of hours and found it challenging.
However it has art style graphics and it is obvious its focus is not on the graphics. It has everything you would expect already there is place. The nearest to being an actual game is parkitect. Choose from premade rides and coasters to scenery and shops.
